Notes from the Club Historian:
Established in 1999, Red Hawk Golf Club in East Tawas, Michigan, is a testament to the classic golf course architecture of the 1920s. Designed by renowned architect Arthur Hills, the course was meticulously carved out of the natural contours of a former hunting camp, showcasing diverse terrain with 120 feet of elevation change. The layout spans from 6,515 to 4,812 yards, offering four sets of tees to accommodate golfers of varying skill levels. Strategically placed, bold grass-faced bunkers and four short par-4 holes (the 2nd, 4th, 9th, and 15th) add to the course's challenge and appeal.
Michigan's coastline is home to several esteemed golf courses that have garnered national recognition. Crystal Downs, and Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club, and The Dunes Club are a few of the celebrated places that dot the state’s western coastline,
While Red Hawk Golf Club may not share the coastal vistas of these courses, it embodies the spirit of Michigan golf with its integration into the natural landscape, strategic design elements, and commitment to providing a memorable golfing experience. Its expertly manicured bent grass fairways, tees, and greens reflect a dedication to quality that rivals the state's most prestigious courses.
